Synapse Engineering BOV vs. HKS BOV
<p>
I LOVE my Synapse Engineering BOV. I found out about them through youtube, and after seeing so many videos of it curing compressor surge, stalling, and improving throttle response, I just had to give it a shot. My tC is running a ZPI Stage 1.5 with an HKS BOV that vents to the atmosphere.
With the HKS BOV, I would ALWAYS get severe throttle delay after downshifting and hard acceleration. Sometimes, it would be a full second after putting my foot on the throttle till I actually accelerated! I’d also have problems with stalling anytime I was in full boost and came to complete stop, or whenever I launched and slowed down. I’d also have a lot of compressor surge. Compressor surge is when air that should be released by the BOV into the atmosphere goes back into the system and causes the turbine in the turbo to stop, and then spin in the opposite direction. This is bad for the turbo and causes increased wear, as well as decreases acceleration and turbo performance.
I installed the Synapse BOV with the Anti-Stall fitting, and it worked PERFECTLY. No more stalling, no more throttle delay, no more compressor surge. Even cooler is the fact that it doesn’t chirp. I know the HKS is popular because of the sound, and I felt that way too, but it’s nice to be able to drive and be unsuspected. With a grill in front of my intercooler, you’d have NO indication that I was turbo. That works well when it comes to the cops, and the times where being sleeper is advantageous :p
Anyway, my fellow Prestige Racing Team Mate Alex was having the same symptoms as me, and decided to get the Synapse BOV too. Prestige Racing shot a video to compare both BOV’s. You can check it out here:
